30th Jubilee session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy and the 8th session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency

This year’s Sustainable Energy Week features the 30th Jubilee session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy and the 8th session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency. The Week will focus on concrete actions to attain energy for sustainable development. The Committee will be asked to endorse steps to accelerate progress on the energy-related Sustainable Development Goals through an action agenda for UNECE.

Join the event in person at the Palais des Nations in Geneva or virtually. Simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Russian will be provided, except for the morning session on 23 September, which will be held in English only.

10.00-13.00 & 15.00-18.008th session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency (GEEE-8)

The Group of Experts meeting will address improving energy efficiency in industry and in buildings, and an action agenda on digitalization. Detailed information on GEEE-8, along with the official documents, will be posted to the session webpage.

10.00-13.00 & 15.00-18.00: 30th Jubilee session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy (CSE-30)               

Featuring:

·       Discussion of UNECE member country commitments to energy in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Climate Agreement.

·       Affirmation of the context and continuing work of the Pathways to Sustainable Energy Programme, including panels on: attaining carbon neutrality in the UNECE region (with a focus on the role of hydrogen); electricity as a critical vector for transformation; energy subsidies and carbon pricing options; high-performance buildings; methane management; and sustainable resource management.

·       Endorsement of the strategic review of the sustainable energy subprogramme.
