Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategy Has Been Published

14/04/2026

The Good Guide to Critical Minerals was published last month (march 2026) by the Minerals Council of Australia, with contributions from key figures including Madeleine King and CEO Tania Constable.

The report highlights Australia’s strategic advantage as a leading supplier of critical minerals essential for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and defence industries. It outlines how minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements are central to the global energy transition and modern technologies.

According to the document, growing demand, geopolitical tensions, and supply chain vulnerabilities have made secure access to these resources a global priority. Australia’s strong geological reserves and stable regulatory environment position the country as a reliable international partner.

The guide also details government support measures, including multi-billion-dollar investments, tax incentives, and strategic reserves aimed at boosting production and exploration.

Looking ahead, Australia plans to expand domestic processing capabilities, strengthen international partnerships, and improve regulatory frameworks to attract investment. These actions are expected to enhance supply chain resilience and reinforce the country’s role in the global critical minerals market.
