ERA-MIN3 Kick-off Meeting
ERA-MIN3, initiated officially on December 1, 2020, is a Horizon 2020 funded international network that aims to continue strengthening the mineral raw materials community through the coordination of research and innovation (R&I) programmes on non-energy, non-agricultural raw materials (metallic, construction, and industrial minerals). The project will contribute, thus, to the objectives of the EIP on Raw Material’s Strategic Implementation Plan and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan, in support of the EU Raw Materials Initiative, the UN sustainable development goals and the European Green Deal.
The project counts with the participation of 24 national and regional, European and non-European, public research and innovation funding organisations. The participating countries are: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech-Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Québec-Canada, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
One of the main activities of ERA-MIN3 will be the organisation and funding of one EU co-funded joint transnational call for R&I proposals. This call, to be launched on January 15, 2021 and a budget of 19 million Euro, will address three segments of the non‐energy, non-agricultural Raw Materials: metallic, construction and industrial minerals and will cover the whole value chain, from exploration, extraction and processing technologies to recycling, as well as, substitution.
The ERA-MIN 3 kick-off meeting was held online on the 2nd of December 2020, starting officially the project activities. The meeting was chaired by the project coordinator, Dina Carilho, from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), and counted with the participation of all the consortium partners and the Project Officer from the European Commission.
