GENDER IN MINING GOVERNANCE REPORTS PUBLISHED by IGF

08/03/2021

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) has launched Gender in Mining Governance: Opportunities For Policy Makers. This report details seven areas where policy makers can support gender equality in mining: legislation, stronger institutions, land acquisition, impact assessments, community development and local content, women’s safety and security, and crisis management. With 25 policy options, our latest report helps policy makers foster good governance to help remedy existing gender inequalities and ensure mining projects don’t exacerbate inequities.

IBF has also published Gender in Mining Governance: An Annotated Bibliography For Large-Scale Mining to provide policy makers, advisors, and academics with additional support. The annotated bibliography includes over 60 publications about gender equality in mining with cross-cutting themes such as technology and innovation, environmental management, financial empowerment, supply chains, and more.
