23/05/2017

The webinar announcement on QUICKScan (a tool for Intelligent Water Management) is organised on June 21st from 16:00 – 17:00 (GMT+2).

It is interesting to decision makers who are under pressure to shorten the lead time for problem scoping and; who are working with spatial problems in the domain of green environment and want to explore solutions at a regional, national or continental scale. This talk is on how stakeholders can work together to find a common solution to a shared spatial problem.

Examples include:

·         Wetland conservation in the yellow river delta (China) which is used by the oil industry, aquaculture, urban expansion and as bird habitat.

·         Ecosystem health in the Brazilian Amazon which is used for agricultural expansion, forestry, conservation and is home to indigenous people.

·         Reshaping the landscape after over exploitation for charcoal production in Mozambique.

·         Safeguarding access to mineral deposits in Europe and make sure that no roads or houses are planned hampering future extraction.

·         Climate proofing cities by use of Green Infrastructure to adapt to impact of climate change.

·         Coffee production in Colombia where access to water and clean water is essential for the livelihoods of farmers and thus for the coffee selling companies.
